Charlton going big this window, Aiden McGeady from Sunderland, Matt Smith via us and apparently made a £500k bid for Charlie Kirk at Crewe.

Absolutely, on paper we have made some great signings, on the pitch the manager seems to hamper any positivity.

Our squad is a fit and capable ST away from being a comfortable midtable team at this level, even more so if we hadn't driven away M Smith.

We're not going down because of the recruitment, that's for sure.

All good players at this level.

At this rate Crewe will have dismantled last seasons team having sold a couple of players this window already, the best one being Perry Ng to Cardiff for £1m+ with add ones and Harry Pickering to Blackburn for £750k, they have considerably weakened themselves on the pitch but have saved any short term financial issues.

Nothing changes at Crewe they still know how to bring players on and sell for a good profit so good luck to them

Absolutely this 100%.

If we are playing long ball to a big striker then surely a big striker is top of the list in this window and not defenders and midfielders etc.

We cannot persist on hoofball to 2/3 strikers and 1 old man who are incapable of playing that way.

I am disappointed we didnt go for Jamille Matt when he left Newport in the summer for FGR, he is 31 and not a great player but a perfect target man who can control and head the ball and lay off to players bringing them into the game, he gets in the right places and has scored 9 in 25 games for FGR this term.

As a footballer he is weak, as a specific role target man he is excellent, much as Akinde is, poor footballs but strong and knows the roles.

The cycle of Crewe goes on.

Become a fairly decent League One side
Sell the decent players
Struggle and ultimately get relegated
Rebuild in League Two with highly rated youth players
Get promoted to League One
Repeat
