Dont even try Courchavel.  Lovely resort but it is now the domain of all this russian and oligarchal.  It was already £4 for a half in 1999.  God only knows what it is now.

Another vote for Austria from me. We've been on a lads 5 day break for the last 5 years in St. Johann, Kirchberg, Kitzbuhel, Mayrhofen and Ischgl. Beer and food reasonable and always plenty going on. Was paying less than 4 euros a pint up on the mountain which was about £3 this year.
