The last time we won at Deepdale was 1986. Who knows... we're breaking loads of other records this season. We might as well break another one. Hopefully we've had our dip and they have one to come.

We haven't played Preston much since 86....in fact the PdC Wes game, may have been the first since; certainly I remember them as the side we had with the longest gap to playing until quite recently....for some years it was Cardiff.  No idea who it is now....prob someone in the Prem....I'd hazard a guess on Liverpool, who we played early doors at the CG 93, and then a 2-2 draw at Anfield Dec 93

If it comes down to a straight shoot-out in that Preston game, I'd happily take that now.

I'm amazed that we have managed to get back on track after that run of crap results.

Just think, if we'd just been average over those games instead of total shite we'd be clear in 2nd.

Ah well!

We'll need to be one or two pts clear of Preston by the PNE game so if we lose it there's still a chance to finish 2nd by beating Orient... ARRRRRRHHHHH I CAN'T EVEN.

It's just the M25 that could put people off. I know it puts me off most away days out that way.

Preston won't keep winning. It only takes 1 slip up from them and we are back in it.

If you look back, on say, the years of the seasons of the 21 st Century, it reveals some interest as to Div 3's 2nd and 3rd place points total.....so for example in 11-12, when we were more interested in Div 4, 93 points were needed for 2nd 90 got you in the PO's.

In this century 91 has never failed to get you an auto slot, so 7 wins from 9 would do that.

In a season like 05-06 79 points could get you auto, 76, 3rd place.  Quite a range....as things stand this year looks like a high total may be needed.  Cooper reckoned 87 a while back 5 wins and 2 draws for us, from 9....I don't think enough; there have been 5/14 seasons when > 87 were needed for auto, and this may be one of them.

To get to my guarantee figure of 91....Preston need 6 wins and a draw from 10...so can afford 3 loses, against our 2.

Given the nature of our run in, injuries/call ups/ potential suspensions etc....it really is a big ask, the odds very much with Preston.

Great analysis. Both of us have a few tough games, but luckily for us we seem to perform better against teams in the top half of the table and we have a lot of those games coming up...

3 wins from 3. Can't ask for more!

I agree Reg but I don't think Preston can prolong this run much more. 8 wins from 9 is incredible form. It won't last another 9 games so we have to take advantage when they do drop points.

I notice that Preston are most weeks playing a day earlier than us for their remaining fixtures. You would think that gives them an advantage of 'scoreboard pressure'.

We are going to have to deal with that and deal with each game at a time. Time for cool heads all round and hope theit results come back to us.

Another thought, will Sky want to show our game at Preston. Could imagine something stupid like a Friday night game!
