Scary thing is how pathetic City's turnover was aren't they a big club?

That is quite surprising.

2 million less than Peterborough, surely that's not correct?

What is worrying is that most seasons there is a club that miss promotion and end up in the Play Offs finishing way in front of the other teams - it could be us and they don't usually go up!

That's the 'elephant in the room' really and I'm sure is everyone's big fear. It certainly is mine.

Found this a few days ago and suggests that recent form is more important going into a play off is more important.

If you believe that they are a 100% lottery then this is would be 4th attempt to get out of League 1 so law of averages would say you would be successful after 3 failures. Of course that doesn't change the probability of 25% successful each time you contest.

It has to be our turn soon.  That's what I keep telling myself.  Fifteen years and counting...

Statistically, the team that finish 3rd are most likely to win playoffs.

Our longest spell outside the top two divisions since before we first got there in 1962/3.

I read something the other day that Aston Villa could be relegated and play Swindon. Last time they were relegated was 1986/7 and we got promoted from 3rd. Random symmetry but would be nice

I remember when we were staring down the barrel of inevitable relegation from what was then Nationwide Division 1..... to console me, another frequent poster on here said, "its alright, we might have to spend some time in the lower leagues for a couple of years, consolidate, and come back."

I'm finished with consolidation. It's our bloody turn.

I am done with hurt. Brighton, Millwall and Brentford.
Fucking hell I want it more than ever and realised I used to take it all for granted.

Tears on TV and all........will be dead soon.

Checked the League 1 stats since the current play off format (since 1990) with a single off play off final. 3rd and 4th most successful at 32% with 8 wins each. Last 4 have been won by the team in 4th (2 by penalties) and the last team to win from 3rd was Millwall in 2010. The best winning streaks have been 4 in a row from 4th in the last 4 years and 6th in the early 1990's. 36% of finals have gone to extra time and 20% by penalties.

So suggests that home advantage in the play offs is such and that may be time for 3rd place team to win again.
