apprantley going to newcastle...can he still do a job for england? i think if he gets a wehole seaosn in and gets back to form, then we'll have a better chance of winning the world cup. He needs to play to be allowed in the world cup first 11 for me.

he's still englands best striker, always delivers when needed for us

he gets alot of unfair stick from all parts, his record speaks for itself at both club and international level

Can he still do a job for England? What sort of question is that. He has been a prolific scorer in an England shirt and the bloke is only 25.

I find it very hard to believe he would join Newcastle. Is it just me or does the story seem confused, it talks of a season-long loan at the top then goes on to mention record transfer fees. :?:

Owen wants to only go on loan but Newcastle want to buy him. Apparently Newcastle have offered £18 million, I am sure he went to Real for around £8 mill.

He was supposedly for sale for £12 million? so why spend more on him than is needed?

i've thought owen rather poor for ages. he's one dimensional. it pains me to say it but rooney and defoe would be better...altho if i'm being honest...i'd love to see emile heskey playing upfront again (once he realises again he can play football)

Why not pair him with Peter Crouch?!?! - I take it you were joking

Owen and Rooney with Defoe on the bench is the future for england

nah when heskey is playing well he's good. altho it does tend to get the team to play like we do when rory plays, or when everton has ferguson on.

obviously he has to be spot on top notch fucking king of his game but i think he's a completely different handful for teams to battle against.

jan koller scores lots for the czech rep. and he's as much of a donkey, if not even more than emile!

but owen is as i say a one dimensional player. he's got nothing else to offer apart from running onto balls that have to be inch perfect. where as defoe has alot more to offer

and crouch is poop. i'd say kevin phillips deserves to play for england ahead of him!

Personally I think Heskey needs studs in his shorts, he spends more time on his arse than on his feet. Only my opinion though.

Think Owen has improved a lot at Madrid, give him a chance when he's back and we can see him regularly, plus I think its a good partnership, him and the Roonster

Crouch is 10 times the player Heskey is. Owen can be pure class and there are few better finishers around.
