Digital SLR

Sure this has been raised before but cannot find it.
I am looking to buy an entry level SLR camera if possible less than £400. Have been looking at the Nikon 3200 and seem to be ale to get one on Amazon for around £330 - I suspect because the 3300 now available. It looks OK and I borrowed a friends 3100 last week to do something for work and was impressed.
Any suggestions/opinions?

Canon are my preference but that's a personal choice.
Are you looking to buy new as I may know someone who has some photography equipment for sale.

I don't really have the confidence to buy second hand, bit of a step into the unknown for me - plus I am 250 odd miles from swindon ☺
Is there much difference between Canon and Nikon mainly gone for Nikon as friend and father in law gone that way but open to suggestions?

Ta again for the offer but I just don't know enough about the subject to be confident buying second hand, plus I would then have to buy lenses etc and that's a whole new ball game!
