15. PAUL SMITH
An experienced, battling midfielder, Paul was brought in by Iffy Onuora in an attempt to lift Town out of the relegation zone. With Paul in the side, five out of nine games were won. In nine games when he was out with an ankle injury, Town won just once - and they went down. Any hopes of a contract for the following season evaporated when Onuora was sacked.
Don't remember this guy at all!

Bald slightly overweight, was actually pretty decent. We tried to sign him in the summer but he turned us down for Walsall.

Really good player, exactly what we needed at the time, other than he was obviously injured....played shed loads for the Gills. I'd imagine he'd be in their all time top ten. Had he stayed fit we wouldn't have gone down that season. |

Danny Hollands is exactly that type of player and looks like hes available on a free too as he is out of contract at Charlton. |

There was only one Smith for town aand that was the great roly poly John who was a midfield maestro who should have stayed at a higher level but for his love of a tipple or two! My hero that cup winning season.
