Twenty's plenty for Town boss Cooper

MARK Cooper expects to see his Swindon Town squad trimmed down to a more manageable size before next season, with the Robins boss anticipating four summer signings to make up a permanent playing staff of around 20.

Can't see troy or jmac being here on cost, nor wes on ambition and a need to balance books...

In theory I would agree but Power has already stated that all 3 are in his plans for next season along with Ranger.

I guess only time and any "possible" offers from other clubs along with seeing what the budget ACTUALLY is next season will show who will and won't still be here.

As for the 4 signings, it is not difficult to see that they will probably be 4 season long loanees from our new (in all but name) parent club.

The Adver piece states the 20 will be permanent. My reading is that any loanees would be in addition.

Good point....clearly you can't operate a squad of only 20 players....you need 18 on a match day, and there's always bound to be a few injuries, suspensions etc

Power said it before the game 2 weeks ago in the BBC radio interview mate, he said he was desperate to try and get Troy to sign an extention as he sees him as an essential member of the side next year.

I would like to see that, however if he can't get over his persistent injury you would have to question whether you can pay (what is likely to be) a significant part of your playing budget on a player that is only going to play half (or so) of your games.

That's why you offer reduced terms,  no one would sign him as he would sure as shit fail the medical. Same with McEveley. Throw a promotion bonus in and would work for both parties.

Oh OK, that's good news then, assuming he isn't pulling a Jed .
