Because we need to shave 600K off the budget. I'd imagine the like of N’Guessan, J-Mac and TAH would be hard to keep baring that in mind.

Barthram can't even get a game when people who play his position are injured.

For me it has to be Ward that goes even just so we can keep TAH, there are a few players i would let go but a few more i would keep. I would recall Storey and go with a 442 as we can't win with the current set up, i would go with DNG & Storey up front.

I was going to ask if we thought Ward could play for another season, but he's almost been an ever present this season so I guess his fitness is not in question.

I don't see why not...he's been a model pro. This is what was asked of him when he turned down Brentford, and he's delivered so far.

Ward has been pretty poor all season and has been pretty non existant as a captain. I'd bin him off if I could.

I think a lot of the reason Ward has played so much is down to injuries & no other players to come in than on his form, but his fitness isn't in question. He has looked one of the fitter players this season.

Ward has delivered exactly what was asked of him when turning down Brentford, and signing up in the summer, he's provided an excellent example to young inexperienced players of how to be a pro footballer....he's played pretty much how you'd expect him to, at his age he's not really going to get any better, and certainly isn't good enough for a higher level.

His contribution is one of the main reasons why we should be able to avoid the Div 4 trapdoor this season...

Can agree he's a model professional and good example to the kids - no problems with that. Defensively, he's been crap. He's not suited for a team who try and play their way from the back with his distribution on a par with good old Jeryll - thats not his fault. The worst bit, however, is that he has shown no leadership on the pitch - to his fellow defenders let alone the team. He's almost mute.

I don't think you can tell from watching, what a captain is doing on the pitch...for example I don't recall Colin Calderwood waving his arms around PdC style.

Reality is our goals conceded column is about par for a side outside the top 5 or 6 in this league, and not bad enough so far to have pitched us into a relegation scrap...it's probably a fair point that Ward isn't going to be good enough to take us up, but I don't think that's why he got a contract.  We had one of those last season who  the Slavetraders were prepared to spunk £350K on presumably anticipating a promotion push....but... No he didnt wave his arms about in a pdc stylee but he did have a go at his defenders or keeper when he felt they needed a bollocking.
You would think our back 5 are mute the amount of talking to each other that goes on esp after a clanger has been dropped

Wishful thinking I'm afraid, a good captain doesn't waste emotional energy in empty gestures, will say stuff in the dressing room and set the example, plus if a defender or keeper do a bit of organising at set plays etc...
