Australia boss impressed with Luongo

AUSTRALIA coach Ange Postecoglou wants Massimo Luongo to get a taste of international football after handing the Swindon Town midfielder the opportunity to stake a late claim for this summer’s World Cup.

It would certainly be a way for him to raise his potential value to have a really good World Cup. We might even make a profit on the £400k.

A third STFC player to appear at a WC would be awesome, and along with the news about Kasim, is a timely reminder that the current project is doing OK and should be persevered with despite many fans and TEF members opting to bale out.

Has the guy seen him play the past few months? Been very poor compared to how he was at the start of the season/last season.

I thought he'd been our best player over the past month or so

Maybe poor isn't the right word, but when his early performances were of such a high standard the past few months whilst not terrible aren't to the same standard.

His form is certainly fluctuating. I think Cooper was right to give him a break, as we've seen he is a very good player when firing.

Native Australian players are hardly the best so it's no surprise Luongo seems impressive.

(There are several of these, all are fantastic)

Well done and good luck to the guy.

It's been twenty years since Jan Fjortoft at USA '94 so I'd love to see a current Swindon Town player at the World Cup. Help us Mass Luongo, you're our only hope.

USA '94 was 20 years ago - that's mental.
