This thread caused me to weigh myself for the first time in years resulting in a BMI of 22.
Rarely exercise and eat crap, I'll shall naively carry on this way and use this as reassurance of my brilliant health.

My BMI is 29 But it is down from 34. Low fat custard, low fat custard. Actually, now us fatties outnumber stick insects 7 to 3 we should wipe the judgemental bar stewards out out. If only we could ctch them. You want to start in Kensington and Chelsea. Actually, come to think of it, the kind of people who would lie about their weight on a survey are the kinds of people that inhabit the 'thinnest' places in the country. I call bullshit.

I don't know how BMI works but my guess is the answer is not just in losing weight but also in building muscle through exercise. Most body builders are overweight but their BMI would be very low and yet just using a chart based on weight and height doesn't take that into allowance.
If I use a chart my BMI is 29 - if I use my scales which have a BMI sensor it is 23.2...
Another point is I used to have a 'Beergut' but in actual fact it was nothing to do with beer... I cut out gluten (bread, pasta etc) and now my beergut has gone and I don't feel bloated all the time

No, but I cut that out first and the beergut didn't shift - it was only when I cut all gluten out it happened
I still drink wine and vodka...

Hmm, gluten. I might try and cut that down. I'm in reasonable shape but have that stupid squidgy bit of chub above the waistband

Seriously worth a go... The clincher for me was eating a sandwich and feeling like I had eaten a three course meal almost immediately afterwards. You've got to have a mindset that checks everything for gluten to begin with but you soon realise what is and isn't. Breakfast is cornflakes followed by fruit or English breakfast with eggs bacon, mushroom, hash brown and beans/tomatoes. My lunchtime sandwich has been replaced with Tesco's sushi and evening meal can be pretty much anything as long as it doesn't contain wheat...
It was never intended as a diet but my BMI (on the scales) started (3 months ago) at 29.8, I've lost a bit of weight (was 18st now 17st) but my body shape has change completely (more toned) with no additional exercise

I'd guess that your weight loss is a lot more to do with the inadvertent reduction of carbohydrates by choosing to eat gluten free.

Quite possibly but I wouldn't say I have reduced carbs as I replaced bread with rice or potato in most cases

How did you lose weight unintentionally?
Dysentery?
I didn't have an appetite for a long time due to: 1) A dick head ex-girlfriend which just so happened to be my best mate's cousin. Fun for jayohaitchenn who really should have taken the piss out of me more than he did; not so much for me. 2) An ear infection which lasted for over a month. Antibiotics for 4 of those weeks made me feel sick and every time I had something to eat it was a risk. Plus it cut down the weekend drinking (I rarely drink in the week these days). He has aids.
Untrue, I've been tested and that. *Gayds
*GRID. I believe it's the correct term, I looked it up on thetownend.com.

The scales with sensors in measure bodyfat percentage, not BMI.
