Nathan: 'I'm captain material'

NATHAN Thompson feels he has the attributes to be a regular skipper of Swindon Town later in his career after getting his first taste of captaincy during the Robins’ 1-0 home defeat to Oldham Athletic.

I assume he's having a 'giraffe'.  His form this season has been way below what he showed consistently last season and he seems to keep getting caught napping during play.  If he's not joking, then it's another example of (quite a few of) our players believing they are better than they actually are!

the most important words in that report

“I think I can bring that to my game. I’d like to think I’ve got some attributes to be a captain later in my career.

He definitely not say the "Im Captain Material" that the adver would suggest in the headline.

Thought it was a cheap advert for a dreadful carpet and upholstery outlet.

Looks like Thompson's more a little pissed off with the Adver over this! For all the good stuff Sam writes he does also write some shit stirring bollocks!

Nathan - 'I can assure you I don't speak like how this article portrays me. Poor journalism.'

Morshead, you naughty boy.  Looking for another ban are we?

There is nothing wrong in the article, nothing wrong with what Thompson said either.
The constant carping at Adver journalists by people at the club is becoming tiresome.
Personally think Sam Morshead does a decent job at a club who has a chairman who isn't the easiest to get info from.

To be fair i am not happy with his recent form...so lets all be unhappy about trivial shit and be done.

I think it's more likely to be down to the misleading headline, which I am lead to believe is not Sam's department.

I'm just guessing though.

Bang on and as FH points out, the article's OK, it's (as so often) the headline which is not composed by the reporters but by sub-editors who usually only skim read the article anyway

Was it the headline he was upset by or the content?

It's been said before, but much of the Adver content is sub-contracted to Oxford...including headline writing. People would be better off, ignoring the headlines of articles and reading the text, and trying to comprehend what is written.

I would definitely say the headline. The content is absolutely fine but some have interrupted the article as arrogant. I can only assume that assumption was due to the headline. There's not many less arrogant footballers out there than Nathan Thompson IMO.
