Not sure we would take 4/5k anywhere these days in the league ( yeah I know 3k at Cov last season )

Rival games have a habit of changing the crowd make up tho - ppl who usually travel sometimes wont due to trouble and plenty come out the woodwork for exactly that

I think I was imagining what we could build after a few seasons at Reading's level.  Maybe 4,000 to 5,000 was stretching it a little, but the point stands.  The City and Reading rivalries were around decades before Oxford even existed...so the fixation a lot of fans have with Oxford has always irritated me a little.

The shitness of Oxford's ground and therefore crap allocation definately has a detrimental effect on the derby games there and therefore the rivalry as a whole at the moment.

Compare that to March 15th, around 3k in that away end at Ashton Gate will create an immense atmosphere and proper derby day feel.

I've always hated City more than Oxford anyway.

We haven't taken huge numbers to City in recent years.

1432 in the Carling Cup in 2011
1000ish(?) the year we got relegated
1826 in 2004 when Darius Henderson got that brace

The last time we got close to 3k was 2684 in the 03/04 season. Then again, who knows. If we're on a roll then optimism might swell the numbers. Plus it's been a while since we played there in the league.

Away followings have never been as vast as 3/4k. The biggest one's I remember are usually in seasons where we have something riding on the game or are doing quite well. If the boot was on the other foot and City visited us in March, I'd imagine they'd bring big numbers because they have more to lose as they (at the moment) are fighting relegation.

Pretty sure we were losing and Thorne equalised with an absolute worldy (fluke). I remember being on my old man's shoulders.
