Smithy signs for Swindon after being a bit of a journeyman.  Smithy has a great pre season last year then gets dropped after 1 match of the new season.

Then has a quality second half of the year when he was finally recalled.  Signs for City in the summer.

By all accounts he plays well in pre season again, and also plays steadily during the first match and a half, then gets subbed during second match.

Dropped for next match being replaced by a striker, then looks like he'll continue to be dropped as someone else is given a chance in his place.  So is Smithy that bad??  Why can he not hold a first team place at any club he goes to?  Weird.

Please note I realise that some of you may not give a shit, but I kinda do.

Maybe it's his attitude - certainly that's what seemed to be hinted at when he was here and not being played. But I wonder how many City fans think it's a good idea to drop a goal-scoring midfielder given their recent run of results?

Judging from the 606 site, not many.  Sounds like there fed up of their manager picking players in the wrong position.

In my opinion, he is not a supremely talented player.  When he featured in our reserves many people posted on here saying he looked very ordinary.  The features he has got to his game - a good shot, freekick, good at winning the ball in the air, good off-the-ball skills - are vital to his game, and if he does not have the chance to show these off he will look very average.

I think City have looked at his goalscoring record and signed him up without looking at the fuller picture.  In my opinion, Smith wouldn't have kept his place in the team without the goals he scored, unlike the likes of Hewlett.  And if you can't dislodge Matthew Hewlett from a side, you know your lacking in some departments.

I don't think he played particularly steadily during the first couple of games, the general opinion seemed to be he was either totally anonymous or dreadful, most people rated him about 5/10.

He's an average to good player for this division.  We were eager for Smith to resign as we seemed to be losing players hand-over-fist and he was the first goalscoring midfield player Swindon have had for a number of seasons.  He was by no means Zidane, nor was he even a Marc Bridge-Wilkinson.

The problem is hes a shit left winger - no pace or skill but good crossing.

Its no coinicedence that his best form for us when used as an attacking central midfielder.  It warms my heart to know that Tinnion is so much of a spastic he cant see what even Kingy had worked out
