I fancy going to see Flogging Molly at Cardiff next Feb.

They are supporting Frank Turner who I know nothing about. Anyone got an opinion on him?

Also, as an infrequent goer, what sort of stage time does a supporting act get?

I've seen Frank play a couple times. Once supporting Green Day then again this year headlining 2000 Tree's Festival. I rate him. He's generally folk rock with a bit of a punk twist to his music, which is pretty cool. Very good live, nonetheless.

With regards to stage time, it depends on how many support bands there are in total and when the first band comes on. You should expect at least half an hours worth.

Ahhhhh Beans on Toast are also very good! They played The Vic in Swindon a month or two back. Again a folk rock singer, but he's very different in how he sings, compared to your average folk singer. Sings a lot about drugs also... But I recommend watching them. Sounds like a fair price to me

I'm going to that. I know nothing of flogging Molly, are they that Boston-punk band, or have I got that wrong.

Frank turner sings earnest songs in Major chords which could so easily become grating and insincere (and does at times), but I still enjoy it. Saw beans on toast at the vic a few weeks ago. He seemed a little lost there, so will be interesting to see how he stands out in an arena.

There's nothing wrong with major chords for us guitar simpletons, David.

Noooo, I didn't mean that in a derogatory way! FWIW I like Frank Turner, and as mentioned am going to this Gig, but he plays relatively simple songs.

I do find it kind of funny too how so many of his songs are about personal hardship and rebellion, given he is the Eton educated son of a Bahraini banker.

All you need to know is they sing Kiss my Irish arse. A classic.

Frank Turner just wishes he was Billy Bragg.

Frank Turner is class.

I defy anyone to not sing/shout along to The Road or Photosynthesis.

Audrey, I have got two tickets for sale if you want them for Cardiff in Feb.  My daughter was going but has been let down by her mate so is selling the tickets.  £60 if you want them, save on the booking fees etc.

PM me if interested.

Cheers
