NILE Ranger needs to win back the respect of his Swindon Town teammates before he can be considered for inclusion in a matchday squad.

The interview suggests he has not done what his employer has asked him to do. Furthermore, he has not turned up for work when he was supposed to. Finally, the above interview suggests that he has been disruptive to other staff.

As a manager, if I had a member of staff acting this way, I would invoke the company's disciplinary processes. It seems that Mr Cooper is doing the same.

Its all very well being petulant and slating Mr Cooper for this, but when you manage a group of adults you have to be aware that they do not have a collective mindset. Studies have shown that when you have more than 7 people in a team, they will break down into smaller group that will pull in different directions and challenge the manager and the other groups. Furthermore, it is a well known fact that when you have a group of people, feelings of envy can be very disruptive.

To lead a team effectively you have to communicate your vision, set a framework, be positive, praise and constructively criticise. Most importantly, to get the group to follow you, you need to be seen to be fair and to treat everyone in exactly the same manner.

The only thing you could possibly criticise Cooper for (without knowing all the details behind the scenes) is to have aired some of the dirty laundry in public. Having said that, I'm glad that he has (to a degree) as we can now all understand that there is a problem and he is working to fix it.

I agree with your points and would echo that you need to demonstrate leadership and deal with these disruptive staff

Cooper has it spot on. No surprise that Ranger seems to be moaning about a bit of hard work.

A leopard doesn't change it's spots.

Stringing together 8 decent weeks was about the best we could have hoped for.

Nile Ranger is a cunt, and this was always going to end in tears. Lesson learned about signing complete fuckwits (I hope).

That 8 weeks might be the 8 weeks that keep us in the playoff hunt, or the 8 weeks that keep us in League 1 and help us avoid relegation. You just don't know.

The world is full of 'fuckwits'. If you are smart, you just need to know how to best use them in order to attain your goal.

Or putting him back in the team without issue may just give the green light to some of the others to Fuck around thinking there are no consequences.

Who knows.

Edit : Oh wait, just reread that. You were saying the 8 weeks before he reverted to type. Never mind then.

It's also a bit of a spurious argument. Equally we don't know that A.N.Other who we would have signed instead wouldn't have scored a bucket load.

Best player we have but for all the wrong reasons.

I made the comments above in haste and jest.

I want him to play but as we are near the top in a season where I expected a struggle, it's a meh from me.

We milked a situation that has established us in the league....so we've done alright I suppose.
