Been told former stadium manager Ron Topp passed away over the weekend. Thoughts are with his friends and family. RIP

There was mention on commentary that the Chairman had been delayed by a bereavement. Is this what it was?

Wasn't it the mid week game he was delayed, therefore can't be related. Although sad news to hear of Ron, I spoke to him a few times, when doing a bit of work for the Swindon and he was always a nice genuine guy, with a few stories to tell

He never really recovered from a few days away only to get home to find his son had committed suicide in their house!! Ron's wife used to work in the club shop when Ron was at the CG.

I grew up a couple of streets away from the Topps, and was at school with their oldest daughter.
Quiet, unassuming people who it was impossible to dislike. The world could do with a few more Ron Topps.

Understand that the present stewards and staff held a minute's silence before their duties commenced last Saturday, one would have thought that after 20 years' service the club would have shown some mark of respect before kick-off.

Quite so. When we seem to have a minute's silence before virtually every game these days, often for people with no connection with the club, you'd have thought we could have marked the passing of one of our own.
