Don't worry, not another Chang exclusive.  Wink

I have just read an article on BBC about Derby renaming Pride Park the 'iPro Stadium' in a 10 year deal worth £7 million. - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24930477 . Bury have also renamed their stadium this week, 'The JD Stadium'.

How would people react should the County Ground be renamed? Obviously not for as much money as the above, but the board have stated they are exploring alternative revenue options and a decent sum of money for something like the renaming of the stadium must be attractive should an offer come in.

Personally, it wouldn't bother me too much, but I would draw the line at re-branding in terms of colour and name ala Cardiff and Hull.

I imagine the 'outraged' and traditionalists amongst the Town support wouldn't be too happy?

County Ground, unlike say Kassam Stadium, does lend itself to having something plonked in front of it, say the Honda County Ground....we could then take the money and still call it the CG.

Wouldn't really matter to me what they called it, it would still be The County Ground. If there's a chance of making a bit of cash why not?

It would still be the County Ground to me, just like the Stratton Bank was the Stratton bank when they renamed it as part of that competition the other year.

But no to a Hull/Cardiff situation I agree.

Grounds like Valley Parade, St James Park, etc have sponsored names these days but fans will always use the original name.

If some company wants pay us stupid money and get a few name signs at the Ground changed then crack on. The place would always be known as the CG to the fans.

Mixed feelings for those 2 I guess as Derby only been there 16 yrs yet Bury always been at Gigg lane
I suppose it depends on what its called or how, something added to "county ground" still means can be called the county ground.
Personally to me its just a name anyway
If someone wanted to stump up cash to rename it fair play to them

Wont stop ppl calling it what they want

I'd be happy for the rename if someone is paying...every penny and all that! But I'll always call it The County Ground!

No to what is happening at Hull and happened at Cardiff.

I wouldn't particularly want the name changed, I think it rips away part of the history of a ground. Well, when the ground has one anyway. That said, we're not in a position to turn down money for nothing, which this kind of deal essentially is. As has been mentioned, people still refer to St James' Park, Valley Parade, Adams Park, Brisbane Road and various others are rarely called their "actual" names, as people stick to the traditional.

I'm a traditionalist but I think we need to move with the times

As clubs seem to be allowed to change ground club colours and even club name, I see know reason to cling on to what is an authentic but let's be honest a dull name for a Ground.

If we do develop our ground meaningfully I would like it to belong to "Swindon Town" and for our strip to remain red themed.

However why not rename it Old Trafford or the New Camp - something to draw a bit more attention - and then, phase 2, rename it the Kingswood Old Trafford or the GWR New Camp, it might be worth a bit more.  I'm not aware of any patents or trademarks relating to Ground names.

How about naming it after something so dear to the heart of many Swindonians ?

The Greggs Arena ?
Poundland Stadium ?
