I had the dubious pleasure of repping a gig with him back in 2010.  It was one of his Metal Machine Music shows.  He was a grumpy old sod.  Much to be expected.  We got a lovely letter of complaint

'to come onto the stage and spend nearly half an hour with his back turned and his trousers hanging around his behind like some teenage kid was a joke'

I don't know if they expected him to come and start telling jokes.

Still.  An absolute legend.

Anyone that went to a gig on that tour had a bloody cheek complaining. It's not like the music press hadn't made it pretty clear what the shows would be like.

The adverts made it very clear.  Emblazoned across them it said 'there will be no songs'

Well there you go. It's like going to see Van Morrison and complaining that he's a bit of a surly cunt.
