First time in yonks I've wanted to watch an England game.  I'm such a plastic, fair-weather fan.

Will be interesting to see whether many travel to Brazil next summer if we get there.  Lots of talk about how interest in the national side is in terminal decline.

I know less about this England team than any other, although that may be more down to me living on the other side of the world than anything else.

Wow.

My grandfather flew with 501 Squadron in the Battle of Britain.  He died just over 5 years ago, aged 91.

And he would always maintain that the Polish pilots he flew with that summer were the bravest and most fearless pilots he knew.  (He nearly died after crash landing in July 1940, and spent the rest of the war as a flying instructor.)

A very nice touch from the Polish fans.  If you're ever in the area and have an interest, the Battle of Britain Memorial on the Embankment at Westminster is worth a visit.  It opened in 2005 and has the name inscribed of every one of 'The Few'.

Me too. Used to love watching England, but have waned over the years. Wanted to watch Friday's and tonight's game for the first time in ages. Didn't know who Andros Townsend was!

Played against us for Yeovil in 09...Obika looked a better player, which just goes to show.

Townsend is a serial loanee, so might give our Spurs boys a bit of hope.

Kasim seemingly didn't go to play for Iraq....I wonder if he's hoping to catch Woy's eye?

Get yourself down to the Battle of Britain Museum near Folkstone, Its superb, and as an added bonus there is a newish BOB memorial up the road which is also very good, It also has a wall that names all of the deceased pilots.
