The reference to the Wheeltappers was to show the prevailing sexist, anti-feminist behaviour at that time.
Hence, also, the reference to the Equal Pay Act and women going on strike when certain firms refused to implement the Act.
Bloody good programme. Especially liked the footage of marauding Man Utd fans at virtually every away game they had.
They really were the nasty bastards of the day. No prawn sandwiches then, eh Reg?

Definitely a good prog, even though I don't agree with a lot of it...historical revision is never a bad thing. Man U, did have a bad rep back then, but remember being at Fratton Park for their visit in 74, and it was peaceful.

Didn't Tranmere themselves keep going until December last year?
Not saying orient won't go up, but they aren't *that* good.

Sticks in my throat a little to offer praise for something written in that filthy rag...but that's one of the best pieces of lower league analysis I've seen in a national title for some time.

One of the better articles about lower league football. I would of been even impressed if there had been some effort and recognition afforded to how well we have played and our flowing style and superb perfromance against Chelsea.

Agree with both parts of that completely. Great article. Re Orient, I see them totally doing a Tranmere, although they've admittedly had an even better start. Southend did the same the year we won L2, always seems to be one team who look good early on then fall away. And of course Oxford, who do that every season.

I don't think Orient will do a total Tranmere as I think they'll still make the top 6. Good manager at this level and they've got some decent players as well. I think unfortunately for them, there's two very good teams in Peterborough and Wolves who will overtake them fairly soon.
I think the Shitheads may shoot up the table at some point. Can't help but feel that with the squad and manager they have, as soon as they win one the floodgates may open. I hope it doesn't of course as I've thoroughly enjoyed their struggle. Coventry also are making some decent noises despite everything that's gone against them. Their strikeforce is easily the best in the division.
Biggest surprise for me still is Sheffield United. I think they might continue to struggle this year.

Not sure if Orient have much depth to their squad. Once suspensions and injuries occur they may well suffer.
Wasn't it about this time last year that Bornmuff started their charge up the table after we had thumped them 4-0?
Seeing as we've had more than our fair share of injuries already and the replacements showing they are more than capable of stepping in, I reckon we should have more than a chance of being up amongst the front-runners

Orient won't implode as Tranmere did. They only just missed out on the Play offs last year

As of now, the biggest surprise for me in terms of league position has to be Brentford: currently in 11th place with a points tally of 15 (from 11 games) and a goal difference of -2. The received wisdom just a couple of months ago was that the division was theirs & theirs alone this season. Early days, but it hasn't really worked out that way so far.
