I am trying to get a photo/image of the now demolished Richard Jefferies School in Swindon....i attended it and it stood for nearly 50 years....but i cannot find any photo,link or image for it!
Incidently it stood where the New College is now and the housing estate.....anyone up to the challenge Grin

When were you at RJ Leefer? I was there up to ........ I guess 1981 as I left Park in '83

Few years before,i didn't go to Park...on leaving RJ i had to go to Headlands instead of Park...i left Headlands in 77 so about 6 years before.

Ball,Sutton,Howard,Summers and Pettit were some teachers i recall from RJ.

i remember going to new college when they still had the RJ building. I was also there when then knocked it down to build the new one

You might want to try faceache, sorry facebook. Search Park Senior High School, I know what you're thinking, I want RJ pics. There is a guy who posts reams and reams of B/W & colour pictures of Swindon from 50's, 60's, 70's of everywhere and i mean everywhere really fascinating stuff. I bet you a pound to a pinch of shit that once your friends request has been accepted you'll find what you want. If not in the archive of posted pictures then asking him directly if he has something. Hope that helps.

Lee - have you tried any of the local "Swindon in days gone by" sort of books? I sure there was a specific chapter on schools on one of them

Herbert Petit was still there teaching biology in my day to. He was he Green Party (probably Ecology Party back then) candidate for some election during the time he taught me.

Was Forrest teaching French in your time there?

Can remember a French teacher by the name of Forrest when i was at Westbourne in the early 70s.
