This bizarre logic means the current cone gatherer, Luke Williams, is going to be England manager within 5 years.

Williams is quite an interesting one, because he crept in under the radar...Brighton opinion crossed the whole spectrum, from he was a decent coach of young players, to, yeah but none of them ever made it through to the first team.

Someone appointed by Poyet is likely to have some credentials football wise, so would be interesting to see how much input he has...unfortunately the days when you could just pitch up at Wanborough and watch training are gone.

Was going to start a thread on this guy, very highly regarded in the lower leagues and youth set up to be keeping the ball on the ground getting the young lads passing, Gus brought him in at brighton and unfortunately for him lucky for us got kick out just after he did, their fans were sad to see him go.

Way to early, to take the r word out of your consideration...of the 16 games Cooper has been involved in as cone collecter, caretaker or gaffer...we've had one away win at Yeovil, but 6 consecutive defeats...4 home wins, but only against 2 different teams, Stevenage and Crewe.

The away form definitely needs to show signs of improvement in the league...the cup win was welcome, but it's the nature of cup football that sometimes you get an odd result thrown up.

It's best to stick to old saws, like take each game as it comes, get to 50 points and then see where you are etc.

So, if you don't count the away win at QPR for idiotic arbitary reasons that make sense only to you, and you do count games in which Cooper wasn't the manager, wasn't picking the team or style of play, and had almost no input to the recruitment of the playing staff (bar probably a quick "yes bugger it anyone we can get" in the tiny sliver of time we were allowed between the embargo being lifted and the loan window shutting) then Cooper is shit at away games.

Honestly Reg, that might be the most stupid thing you've ever posted. And, you've missed out the win at Coventry, but I'm sure you'll discount that because he'd only just arrived and not touched a cone by that point.

I didn't think anyone would be dreging this "run of awful away defeats" up again now the Paolo was sinning the league and KMac screwed it up debates were finally finished with but here we go again.

We played 12 games under the new regime at the arse end of last season. Of those 7 were away from home, and we won only two, Yeovil and Coventry. The rest we lost. But they were against:

Brentford
Doncaster
MK
Sheff U
Scunthorpe

Guess how many of them we managed to beat AT HOME earlier in the season with a full squad, loans in place, Ritchie on the wing and PDC shouting from the sidelines?

One of them. We lost to Brentford and drew with all the rest. And Coventry took a point of us at home as well.

The lesson from that run in isn't that KMac / Cooper were rubbish and lost us the league because they couldn't win away games, it was that some of the better sides were better than us, and took points of us home and away regardless of who was in charge.

How Scunthorpe end up on that list I don't know, but as the away defeat was the last game of the season with nothing to play for it's sort of understandable. How they took a point of us at home when we were supposedly an unstoppable Paolo fuelled force storming to the title is a bit less easy to explain.

Are we fucking done with this now?

the Andrew Black position.

Tried that with the missus, but just couldn't bring myself to pull out before she delivered the goods.

I know you're a bit OCD about PdC...but the point here is that it's a bit early to be thinking everything in the garden is rosy, especially as the away form is ropy and needs to improve. That cup games can be an unreliable guide, look no further than Cobblers a couple of years ago...knocked out Liverpool in the LC at Anfield, had a feel good win next up then lost 6 in a row and the manager Sampson was out in the new year as he couldn't turn their slump around.

To answer your last point...I doubt that we've heard the last of PdC from you.

Question: Why are we over analysing this if A) 2 managers being mentioned aren't with the club anymore? and B) if it's too early to 'suggest everything id rosy'?

OK, it is too early to suggest so, but it's too early to suggest it isn't also, surely? Why can't we just enjoy the season and moan when we lose, and celebrate when we win? Is that too hard to do?

I'm not one to get carried away when we win/lose...I don't see the point.

Of course it is. But his main point was that it's a bit unfair to judge Cooper on games he wasn't in charge for. Fact is it's too early in both the season and Cooper's being the main man to make any kind of judgement on either.

Reg was probably as cautious about PDCs future after a few games as he now is about predicting how our season will progress under Cooper.  Occasionally Reg's signature gloom provokes irritation but you have to admire its universality and evenness.

The pyrotechnics of Dalumpi's storm shattered Reg's gloom, spitting and thundering until we all appreciated the superiority of KMac's record to Paolo's.  Then, as suddenly as it erupted, it subsided like all good storms with the pin drop quiet of "Are we fucking done with this now".

As Reg didn't even mention Paolo, the answer to Dalumpi's question must surely be from Dalumpi

A resounding win in the televised game at Franchise, would certainly set the feel good factor into hyperdrive, and yet consider a couple of seasons, when that has happened... 94/95 a 5-2 thumping of WBA at the Hawthorns...surely this side was too good to go down...it wasn't.  10/11 a 4-2 beating of Charlton at the Valley...surely this side was too good to go down..it wasn't.

The key ingredient in both cases...losing a star striker in the transfer window. Ranger's case is in January  Sad

Not like you to look on the bright side Reg.

Is Ranger a star striker now then? Hasn't he only played 3 games?!
