JPT isn't it?  Don't know about cup ties but remember a few league games in the late 80's/early 90's.

I'm guessing Roman probably doesn't do early rounds of the cups away to lower league opposition. But I love the mental picture ....

It feels like a long, long time since we had a 'super power' at the County Ground for a competitive game. Was it really the Blackburn Rovers tie in '95 when the were reigning Premier League champions? That's all I can think of.

If it's anything like that game then we're in for a(n unexpected) treat.

See what you mean, but I'd never class Blackburn that way - despite their having won the league.  I bought 16 tickets for that game (for a group at work)...so demand can hardly have been at fever pitch. Villa last season felt like more of a 'big' game.  The last 'superpower' at the County Ground was possibly as far back as the 1993/94 Premiership season?

From memory the Simod cup was formally the full members cup which was the top 2 divisions equivelent of the LDV (which as we know covers the 2 lower leagues)

Yeah no simod equivalent now. I went to that 4-0 game, we mullered them.  I can also remember going there in 80 something and we lost 2-1 in a crowd of  about 9k of which 1500 were ours.

1.05 mins into that video, its such a pleasure to see those audacious slide tackles from Kammy. That guy was a match winner, a proper legend
