Means that you wouldn't need to travel to Heathrow any more, all on the doorstep!

If you can look past the destruction of vast tracts of open countryside, the LOX proposals have a lot to recommend them.  Heathrow is a dead duck, and should be humanely euthanased at the earliest oppportunity.  And the Boris Johnson-supported proposals for an Estuary Airport look nice on paper, but fail for me because the airport would be on completely the wrong side of London for most of the country.

The LOX proposals won't see the light of day, though.  Too much opposition.  And we don't do infrastructure in this country like they do in France or Germany, for example.  We'll muddle through the next 50 years by tacking an extra runway and a new terminal on at Heathrow.  Meanwhile, Amsterdam will nick all of its hub business...which is no bad thing in a way.  Probably better to have planes clogging up the skies over there than over here.

London City is my favourite airport in the UK, although the flight into Edinburgh airport is quite pleasant.

Would make more sense to improve the rail infrastructure than build another international airport in the UK. How many are there already? Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Birmingham and Manchester?

I'm warming to the LOX proposal.  They could bulldoze Oxford and make it the long stay car park.

 Cheesy

Completely unintentional, sadly.

I kind of expected to see Lyneham being turned into a London Airport.
