KICK-OFF: Cooper - ‘Fans will want a big name ...but I have managed in the Championship and I think  I have something  to offer’

WHEN Swindon Town returned for pre-season training on June 24, Mark Cooper could never have anticipated being in charge of the club for the first game of the new League One campaign.

I'm beginning to warm to the fella - although he is wrong if he thinks us fans want a big name.

We want a successful manager, that's all. And if it happens to be him, good luck to him.

Please God people give him a chance at least

If he gets the job then I'll have patience with him. Sure, he had a bad time at Posh but we've seen with players such as Cureton that some times things just don't work out. He's got a young, talented squad to work with, let's see how well he can coach them.

Why...what we want is a credible manager, doesn't have to be a big name....KMac was credible, because he fitted the policy of coaching young players. Cooper, just isn't credible. Even Kingy had a bit more on his CV, when he was the cheap option.

Whoever the manager is he should been the one selecting players, tactics etc. Is that on offer at stfc?

I don't want a big name. The last one we had was a wanker.

In some ways he's in a strong position in that he can only really surpass our expectations, and if he doesn't, and is proven to not be up to the job, then most of the vitriol will probably bypass him on it way to Jed and the board for procrastinating over a proper appointment.

Perhaps they asked the players about squad numbers at the photo session, you know when Troy left in a huff refusing to have an individual picture taken or talking to the local media.

On the other hand, maybe he went off in a huff because they had told him he couldn't have "I like Bad Bitches" on the back of his shirt. Smiley

I think I heard something along the lines of...'Troy didn't have a single figured squad number, therefore the angle of the 4 and the 1 on the back made it easier to fit his name around as the Football League wouldn't allow 'Troy' on the back!'

Quality.

yes, I was making a light hearted remark about his propensity towards moaning about everything that is involved with being a professional footballer
