  CARETAKER manager Mark Cooper has revealed defender Darren Ward has been appointed Robins club captain for the new season.

Damn right. All hail our Spurs overlords. I am engraving their emblem into my flesh as I type.

Seriously though, it's a pretty obvious appointment. Captain Caveman is nearly 10 years older than our next senior player, and he's one of the three players still remaining from last season (that actually played...) whose performances I think this season will pivot on.

You honestly couldn't think of anyone more suited to a Captaincy role. I say this knowing nothing about the players personally, but just from a fans perspective- he's an old, cool-headed, no nonsense centre back in a squad full of kids.
