Hang on a minute.  Who would a concert like this appeal to though?  There are plenty of comments earlier on this thread pointing out that the standard of the acts were pretty ropey.  I know I'm not in the target demographic for this - and, sure enough, I haven't the faintest idea who any of the acts are - but even if you are in your teens or 20s, the prospect of spending your Friday night watching a parade of also rans from a Saturday night TV show is not going to be that enticing, is it?

I don't think Swindon folk are going to be any more or less likely to support good acts if they're on offer.  The numbers simply reflected the quality of the line up.

This.

Not too sure why the promoters went for two nights anyway - suppose it keeps certain costs down but I would think that Peter Andre was going to attract a far bigger audience so why not have more acts on the one day?

Swindon has always been a strange place for entertainment - if Elvis were to re-appear backed by the Beatles it would probably not be a sell-out!

Pretty sure Elton sold out completely, Brian Adams was pretty close to a sell out but they didn't use the Town End

I went to the Elton concert, it was a virtual sell-out, although I think you could still buy some of the cheaper tickets right up to the day.  Didn't go to the Bryan Adams concert, but I understand there were not quite so many there but still a good turn-out.  My daughter went to a Bruce Springsteen concert in Leeds on Thursday evening, total sell-out for that one.

I think comparing Elton John and Bryan Adams to a bunch of 80/90's acts and reality show rejects is a little bit like comparing a friendly with tottenham to FGR though to be fair.

Just went past and there is a huge queue for tickets and couldn't get parked down my street (as opposed to last night when I pulled up at 8.10 and parked up right outside my house) County Ground Hotel is also looks rammed. Lots of people seem to be going as a last minute thing it seems.

The two pop concerts were set to be cancelled in the middle of this week due to poor ticket sales – with just 2,000 tickets sold for last night’s event and around 4,000 for tonight’s gig, promoters were forced to call upon the football club for support, or pull the plug entirely having lost thousands of pounds themselves.

It looked fewer thank 2K, maybe more turned up later. Or didn't turn up because of the cancellations. Didn't look like 2K from the picture posted on here.

I think there should be a good 4-5,000 in there tonight judging from the crowds outside which are much larger.

I guess this was why the board underwrote the gigs. They either gave up the £300,000 if they were cancelled or put a six figure amount down and to underwrite and hope to make some of it back off the drinks and such.
