There's 500 tops in that photo. No wonder tickets we're given away and acts cancelled. Tin pot chancers

2,200 apparently
Well I'm not sure where they all are in that photo? Unless they manage to pull in some real top class acts, there seems little point in attempting this type of thing again. Shame really, as it was going to be extra revenue for the club.

Portsmouth used to have more than that in front of the TE back in the day. I wonder if Eric was there tonight. Maybe if spurs had told us which acts to put on it would have been OK.

Had a decent night overall. Walked in wondering where the hell everyone was but the quality of performance was decent and people got more and more into it as the night went on.
Negatives; half an hour or so gaps between the acts was silly and the event seemed to drag by the end.
Secondly - it was standard Swindon with the sluts and chavs becoming more prominent as the alcohol intake grew larger. Me and the mrs felt like we were in a nightclub from about 9.45 onwards.
Going tomorrow as well so will see what that brings. Hopefully more than 12 people in the stands.

Although is not mything in the slightest, I wanted this to be a success. For the town of nothing else. Katy B is a pretty big name in uk music at he moment (although maybe not amongst this forum admittedly), and the fact it's sold so poorly hardly sends a good message to promoters looking to get anything decent in the town I the future. Doesn't help the business case for that oasis development

Err, guess we won't be having any more concerts again... reminds me back of back in the day when I did a bit of band promoting (not to this scale). Seems the people of Swindon just aren't interested, and hardly ever have been.

Hang on a minute. Who would a concert like this appeal to though? There are plenty of comments earlier on this thread pointing out that the standard of the acts were pretty ropey. I know I'm not in the target demographic for this - and, sure enough, I haven't the faintest idea who any of the acts are - but even if you are in your teens or 20s, the prospect of spending your Friday night watching a parade of also rans from a Saturday night TV show is not going to be that enticing, is it? I don't think Swindon folk are going to be any more or less likely to support good acts if they're on offer. The numbers simply reflected the quality of the line up.

Let's be fair, here.
The 'event' had nothing to do with STFC - the club just offered the venue for hire to the promoter.
If it turned out to be absolute shite, that falls in the promoter's lap

Wow, I thought this paragraph was going to be followed by "...well this was something like that would've been..." Time for the Brunel Rooms to enter the fray – and how! Can anyone today imagine The Ramones and The Talking Heads on the same bill in Swindon?

Arriba, who are the "tin pot chancers" here? We hired the venue out, it didn't work out for the promoters obviously but the directors underwrote it this week to avoid it being cancelled - and it was not STFC money being used, but their own!!
