Looks like the concerts will go ahead this weekend, but at a cost to STFC.
I hope Jed & co aren't relying to heavily on revenue for these concerts in their business plans.
At what cost? Has something happened?

I saw rumours last night that they might be cancelled, but I just saw on twitter.. Gary Lawrence @gazzaloz 23m So the Big Summer Sesh goes ahead thanks to #stfc underwriting it. Poor ticket sales almost scuppered it.

Concerts are notihng to do with stfc so the board would not underwrite it, they get money regardless of how well it is attended

Unless the tickets have sold so badly that the third party company are about to go bust/can't afford to pay us or run the concerts.

With zero control over ticket sales or the product itself, it would be lunacy to underwrite it.
Hmmm.

emma stfc goodall @emmag892 1h @gazzaloz me being dumb but what do you mean by underwriting it??
Gary Lawrence @gazzaloz 46m @emmag892 It means they are coming up with the cash to pay artists etc so concerts go ahead. See the paper tomorrow for full explanation!

Wasn't there some sort of insurance involved? so it pays out if the concert didn't happen. I'm sure i read something along those lines. The board would be crazy to underwrite it.......

I'm pretty sure that last bit's not quite true. when Jed did that presentation not too long ago, didn't he specify that it would bring in STFC between £300k - £1.8 million per year, depending on how well attended the event(s) were?

I remember reading somewhere that we would make 300k regardless of how many tickets were sold.
