Hardly any game time at all last season.

5 appearances. On the face of it that is not good at all.

Watford had a pretty mint midfield last season though.

Watford fans seem to rate him. Hardly surprising he didn't get much of a look in last season with all the Italian loanees at the club.
Seems to be just what we need - an older head

Here's a player who has played the last ten seasons in the championship, so perfectly fits the bill of an experienced head to go alongside the young lads, yet some are still finding fault! Almost sounds too good to be true given our current budget.

I don't think it is wrong to be concerned about his fitness given his age, injury history, and lack of appearances last year, just as it isn't wrong to be concerned at the lack of experience of the young lads. Its to what extent these fears manifest themselves.
Does anyone know what, if any, scouting has been undertaken with regard to Smith and Barthram, by the way?

Lee's mate Tim said they're "well good" so it's fine, don't worry about it. Likewise, our move into the future by using YouTube to scout Agombar is a fine example of using low cost technology in the place of needless, costly actual scouts.
