Peter, Mousehole is stunning. There was a tragic event with the lifeboat crew who tried rescuing a large boat that has foundered on the rocks. HEROES. That is sacrifice

Like Donkey, I am a city boy at heart so New York probably edges it.

Beyond that, I had a great time in Trento (Northern Italy), loved Nice and could probably retire in Santa Rosa (California, near Napa).

Favourite place could be the Botanical Gardens in Melbourne.  A great spot in my favourite city.

Loved living and working in Melbourne but can never seem to articulate the reasons why.

Lindos, maybe more for the memories as it was better when less popular. Cornwall is my favourite place in England.

How come you came back?  I gather welding is still on the list of trades that can get you in permanently (was last time I looked anyway).

The Northumberland Coast is probably my favourite part of England - Seahouses, Bamburgh, Farne Islands, Lindisfarne etc.

Nerdy musically as it is, walking around Lindisfarne with my headphones on listening to Alan Hull was one of those really memorable moments in my life. Winter's song, listened to whilst sat next to the boats on the shingle beach on a crappy January day is a beautiful, beautiful experience.

I really love The Valleys. Not necessarily the people who live in them, but the valley roads in South Wales not only have some of the most spectacular scenery in the country to enjoy as a passenger, but, if you enjoy driving, are as windy (as in twisty, not gusty) and enjoyable roads as it's capable to find over here.

So many great places mentioned in his thread.
My favourite area to get away to is the Lake District, but avoid the peak holiday period.  Following Dosser's theme tend to use YHA accommodation there.
For cities, up amongst the best I've liked are San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle and Vancouver.
But the favourite place i've been to for just chilling is Caye Caulker, Belize.
