Well i had to deliver some security racking to the tarmac at Heathrow today....took me passport for ID and of course in these nasty times security is king...rightly so.
On arrival at the logistics centre i had a briefing and my photo taken....then signed the book with a magic pen.
Then every crevise in my lorry was searched.....took around twenty mins and while this was happening my water, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, can opener spoon, were all ditched in the nearest bin

Oh well i could live with that but then i was given instructions on the route to take and was to meet a convoy car with flashing lights to take me onto the tarmac where the racking was needed...nightmare as the map was shite and i spent half hour driving three miles trying to find the entrance and my convoy man....eurika i found him and his beaming smile led me into a false sense of security....he was from Belarus and i couldn't understand a thing he was saying and spent the next twenty odd mins following him at 5 miles an hour untill we reached the tarmac....and a final X Ray before being led gingerly to the small compound where the racking was to be unloaded.
Imagine my delight on arrival to be told the forklift was busy for at least an hour and due to health and safety and security reasons i couldn't unload myself on my tailift.
Oh well i spent the long hour gazing longingly at the planes taking off........even Air Iraq looked appealing.
