Sometimes people get so carried away with continental formations and players with unpronounceable names, they forget football is about winning points of which sticking the ball in the net is an integral part.
Austin has 6 goals in 10 games this season (more than Rooney, Wellbeck and Lambert combined).
His goals have earned QPR 7 out of their 8 points so far this season.
And he tore the Man City defence a new one at the weekend.
Luxury player my arse.
This .... and QPR look more dangerous with Zamora putting pressure on the City defence, meaning Charlie is getting more chances. That second disallowed goal, where Hart played it to himself, would've been missed by most officials...but even so, what a finish. I said I would've taken him to the WC, as there is no other English striker who is as natural goalscorer as him. He just knows where the goal is.

I agree with a lot of that, Brucie, but week in, week out, he's a luxury player at that level. As good as his goal instincts are, he's no better than players such as Kevin Phillips, Darren Bent etc. He's certainly nowhere near as good as Shearer, Fowler or Sheringham were as they all had pace and the ability to run with the ball, as well as knowing where the net was. He's in a purple patch at the minute, but Redknapp will be well aware of his weaknesses - and lets face it, they are the reasons he's at QPR. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him flogged in January for big money to a club desperate to buy some goals (circa £10m) but I'd be fucking amazed if he ever got a big club move, let alone anywhere near the England first team squad. Fair play to him though. Bricky to the Premiership, with £17k a week and all the pussy he can handle, is not bad for an ignorant thick cunt from Berkshire Teddy Sheringham was the quickest player I've ever seen.

Amen. Rodney Marsh was on TalkSport 20 minute ago stating he should be in the England team before Lambert. Whoever was presenting agreed. If the media are starting to buy into it, the call must be close..

Charlie is playing and scoring regularly in the Premier league. Lambert barely plays and can't get into the side ahead of the laziest striker in Europe. No brainer for me. Surely worth giving Charlie 45 minutes against Scotland?

Reading up on it a bit, the general consensus in the media is "I can't believe I'm saying this, but Austin should be in the England squad instead of Lambert". Think if any of the strikers get injured Austin will be getting a phone call.
Hodgson pretty much said Lambert is in the squad based on previous and his credit is running out.

I honestly don't see the point in picking Lambert. He's 32 now. At the next tournament, he'll be 34.
Austin's 25, give him some experience (qualifiers/friendlies). He's now found his feet in the Premiership, four goals in his last 3 games (two against Chelsea and Man City, I might add).
What harm can it do. I'd fucking love to seem him play for England.

If Charlie's form continues as it is he will be in the next squad. No doubts at all about that.

Austin in England squad for Republic of Ireland and Slovenia games in June.
Reckon he's got a good chance of getting some game time.

Going to be a great summer for Charlie England debut followed by transfer to top half premier league club. Fully deserved, excellent striker.

When he was at Swindon I predicted at my work that he would play for England one day and I got laughed at.
I reckon it might be pay back time tomorrow ?
Good luck to him, he served us well while he was here
