What fucking annoys me more than anything is that this new lot are being fucking cruicified still,on a day that it has transpired that our previous lot are happy to let a player who did not play a minute of football take 8 grand a week.
Why are people not starting to ask more serious questions of the previous regime, Jeremy Wray had the fucking front to sit at a trust meeting and say he is worried about the new lot?
Agree entirely with the Jeremy Wray thing, I hope there were some difficult questions thrown his way.* I don't think the Trust have really done a good job themselves PR wise and whilst I'm not slating the good work they do, it's things like the Wray incident which make people think it's a 'secret club' with a hidden agenda. *In fairness I did not attend the meeting so I've no idea what the agenda with his attendance was and whether he did in fact confess to the shit that was going on.

So are the wage issues the thing that Mr Wray wanted everyone to sign to say they wouldn't discuss, or is there worse to come?

I can't understand though how we are so fucked cash wise. We've got a very healthy ST base, good commercial revenue and probably the 6th biggest turnover this season in div 3. The club came debt free ( or so we believe ). Even with such high earners I still can't do the maths and see us being in such shit so early in the day.
Its presumably because if we don't reduce the wage bill immediately every month that goes by we have to make up the wage induced shortfall. We are OK for now for the reasons you say (ST money, probable Flint sale), but we have to be OK in 3, 6, 9 and 12 months too. It seems clear to me Jed hasn't got the cash to bridge the gap so costs need to come down. We can't wait, it'll be too late.

Many people are overestimating/over-dramatising the budget cuts as though we are skint and will be operating on peanuts next year. That's probably just not the case though. Our revenues should be among the top 6 or so as you say. Give or take a bit and I estimate we should have a top 10 budget next season. (I'm not saying it'll be a good season because there's other variables in play) Big contract's like Rooney's will skew things a tad but we will not be operating on a shoe-string budget as some are happy to make you believe.

Where has it been stated that we're in 'shit'? If we keep paying people 8k a week however I don't think even the most numerically challenged amongst us would need a calculator to realise we'd be well and truly fucked.

I don't know but can kind of understand why Black wanted him replaced when he was negotiating deals like this. Worth remembering this all goes back to Swindon Legend Paolo Di Canio having a hissy falling out with our captain.

Is it worth going back to page 1? I went back to page 5 and have moderately chuckled since.
Since our Big Fat Gypsy owner has taken the reigns I have read more 'fact' here about the board and their intentions than what Jed & Co have peddled out themselves. From the semi-believable to the utterly absurd, its all been said on the TEF over the last few weeks.
For the very little, if anything that its worth, players have gone, fan favourites at that. This isn't something that is exclusive to this close season thats for sure. Some seem to think releasing a few players is abnormal and is a clear indicator of imminent doom, on and off the pitch. Really? The cynicism is laughable.
As pointed out earlier, why on earth were we dishing out contracts like Adam Rooney's, although having to sell arguably our best player to pay the bills at the same time?
Ok, Jed's method of PR and his general interpersonal skills leave much to be desired, not sure me or many others on here would do much better, but the official stuff that has come out of the club shows we are at least thinking about sustainability by looking for further revenue sources. If he learned to keep schtum from time to time half of these threads wouldn't exist!
I think tea and crumpets are needed all round, Bovril on one, crunchie peanut butter on the other.

Agree with all of this, apart from the last sentence.

It must be common knowledge in football though? There were lots of L2 and L1 managers criticising 'teams like Swindon' for their financial management. Also, Sunderland came out very quickly to say that PDC would have no authority over transfers (and we have seen no sign of Mr Spencer). I wonder why?

Not shoestring overall, but IF Rooney, Roberts, Navarro, McEveley & TAH are on this type of wage that's equivalent to about a whole squad for an average league 1 club so the balance will need to be pretty much shoestring costs

To get back to football matters, a back four of Thompson, Ward, Troy, McEvely (or alternative) with Foderingham behind will be better than most other teams in the division even if the rest of the team is hopeless (which it's unlikely to be).
To put those players into perspective, Bristol City will probably be building their promotion bidding defence around Aden Flint.
With Collin/ Williams/ Storey up front we'll look like being only a decent creative centre-mid and a winger away from having a (semi) competitive first team (albeit with a very thin squad to back it up, a bit like Franchise).
I think once we start filling in those gaps with new players and rebuilding after the trauma of the current painful (but financially necessary) exodus of playing staff people will begin to regain some of their lost excitement and feel more positive about the possibilities of the new season.
No doubt there'll be plenty of PR blunders/ brawls in the boardroom/ Fredi accusations etc. to keep us entertained/ arguing in the meantime.
