City clearly want him badly, they could potentially wait 6 months and then sign him on a free transfer can't they? 350k plus not having to pay Alfreton is a cracking deal for a player in the last year of his contract.

Or have I got that wrong because he is young and we would need to be compensated?

Two annoying things about Aden Flint's transfer.

1. Club in the same division -- would have been nice to see him play at a higher level (would we have got a bigger fee?)
2. It's 1982 Ltd.

These two points are really picky mind.

If true, it's pretty daft that we've got nearly as much for Flint as Ritchie.  As much as I like Flint, they're streets apart in terms of ability and value.  Flint is far more replaceable than Ritchie was.

Interesting couple of articles floating about over the last few days that Di Canio wants Ritchie at Sunderland.  Bournemouth could make an absolute killing on the pittance they paid for him if so.

I could have sworn that we took the money for Ritchie up front without any add-ons at all.

A sell on fee for Flint yes but not for Ritchie, it was all up front only.

I don't think so hence the reason everyone was so up in arms.  It really was bargain basement time.

Ritchie won't go to Sunderland.  He was good, but not Premier League good.  He should stay put.  He could shine for Bournemouth next year.  (It hurt when I typed that.)

I have to agree with that.

I reckon we might be negotiating with a City player as part of the deal, hence the delay.

Just a hunch.

You think if PdC comes knocking then Ritchie will turn it down?

I thought Shitty had money serious problems? If they didn't, why didn't they spend money last season and try to stay up?

They're a bit like we were, heavily in debt to a minted owner....difference being Lansdown is a fan and has been there years. I'm sure once they've moved a few on in the summer, the Flint money is well within their budget.

Precisely.  They're being bankrolled by Lansdowne...just on a much bigger scale than we were under Black & Wray etc.  And based on results, he's getting a very poor return on his investment.

What was their most recent annual loss?  £14 million rings a bell.
