New deal agreed for County Ground pitch maintenance
           
           



  SWINDON Town have announced a three-year deal with Ecosolve and British Seed Houses to continue the maintenance of the County Ground pitch.

out of interest why does the pitch need replanting every year?

why cant they use last years grass again?

since they appear to have started work, this does seem to severely reduce the likelihood of putting some gigs on (I'm getting down with the kids)

The seed mixture contains a variety of grasses one of which the percentage mix is crucial... If they didn't top and reseed then the grass mixture would change and the pitch would become less resiliant and hence why, year on year, the pitch has become better (there is always an underlying remainder of seed that is left over in the soil and each year it becomes more equal to the initial percentage mix)
