Benson offered to rivals Oxford

TOWN are trying to offload Paul Benson just days after the striker was informed by manager Kevin MacDonald that he would be a part of his plans in pre-season, the Advertiser understands.

A quote free mini-article.

Have the Adver rubbed the club the wrong way?

Other than Murrall allegedly threatening legals over the woman's football article before storming off?

I do wonder whether this is the first salvo in a more hostile approach from the Advertiser, story does seem to deliberately seem to wind fans up.

They've offered him as a blood sacrifice as part of their evil plan to sublimate us all to an Oxford-worshipping zombie cult. S'obvious, innit?

This isn't going to be the quiet close season that some of us want, is it?

Last Wednesday.

Adver editor met with him, he didn't introduce himself, threatened the Adver with legal action and stormed out.

Oh my. Is this because he made comments to the Editor he would not have made if he knew who he was or something? Not the best relationship atm then...

I can kind of understand it, they haven't exactly received glowing coverage from the Adver in their short tenure, but it is a tad childish. much better to have the paper on-side, seeing as how many people read it as gospel.

As far as I know:
- They ran a story on Glenn Evans quitting the Women's team due to unkept promises.
http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/10418894.WOMEN_S_FOOTBALL__Town_Ladies_boss__had_no_choice_but_to_quit_/
- He claimed the Chairman (Jed) had gone behind his back (see above article)
- Adver claim to have asked 3 times for comment from STFC, but didn't get it so ran the story.
- I *think* the issue was the club claim Jed was not involved. Board issue response:
http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/10421574.Town_respond_to_claims/

Much ado about nothing. Though STFC do seem to have tried really hard to shoot themselves in the foot at every PR opportunity (IMHO).

Would be surprised if the lack of news recently is anything other than it being slow this time of year, plus the club aren't the most communicative anyway right now.

But why the big song and dance about making sure it was known Jed was not involved in anyway, if they had left it then no body would have really batted an eye lid as (no offence) the ladies team isnt that big a deal in the grand scheme
