Somewhere to stick lists of players who we think will stay/who we think will go this summer, instead of putting it all in the Transfer Rumours thread, and keeping the idle speculation out of the Squad thread.

I think in August we'll see:
The Thompson 'twins', Ward (if he's not on too big a salary, which is unlikely), Storey, TAH (no-one will want to buy him anyway), McCormack (maybe), Luke Rooney, Bedwell.

Hopefully we'll get some decent cash from the Austin sale this summer, and, on top of that, presuming the board are cashing in their chips, we should get a good amount for Fods, we'll probably get a crap amount for Ferry (either because we let his contract run out and he moves on a free somewhere, or we sign a new contract and then let him go for peanuts), crap amount for Williams, and hopefully a decent rate for Caddis, presuming his move to Brum materialises.

I've not got my expectations set high for any real signings, or keeping Flint/Devera etc. on, but to be at all prepared for another shot at promotion next season we need to bring in a pair of decent left backs, Danny Hollands, another central midfielder for cover (and possibly a third if Kmac really wants to do 4-5-1), some decent wingers (though I think Luke Rooney once given a run of games will improve), and a clinical, quick striker. I don't expect any of these things, but I'd like 'em.

Id like to see Miller, Jmac, Navarro, Roberts go tbh. None have impressed me and I'd guess these are on higher wages.

Keep the rest with the exception of maybe De Vita or L Rooney. We need more quality out wide which will then stop Ferry being played there.

So, the seasons now over for us and now is the time the retained lists come out. Looks like the summer is going to be one consisting of a lot of change, and in all seriousness, I think change is needed. On paper we have a good squad, but heck of a lot of it consists of overpaid underperformers. A lot of our better players this season have been the younger and hungrier ones, which if built upon by MacDonald in the summer, could yield some success.

So the question is, who do we want to keep realistically and who do we want to bin?

I love the term..."the retained list" dates to the 50's/60's when the club held the contracts, and could just decide whether to retain a player at season's end or not.

These days it's the norm that once a player's contract ahs run down and not been renegotiated in the season, then they're on their way, either the club doesn't want them or their agent has sorted another club.

For this reason all our out of contract players, wil leave in the summer, with the possible exception of N Thompson, who as reported has been spoken to about re-signing along with the 5 youth lads.

I think they will take up the option on Flint and then sell him

Knowing us he will probably go to Port Vale for a small fee. He was heavily linked to them in January.

Taking the squad as it is today (including loanees) I'd keep:

Alan Mac
Flint
Devera
Ferry
Collins (unless we're offered cash)
Wes
Thompson
Luongo (if possible)
Ward
Storey

I'd bin:

Roberts
Williams
Miller
Navarro
McEveley
Byrne (unless he hits the gym and spends all pre-season using nothing but his left foot, yesterday's attempted clearance was a total embarrassment)

I'm undecided on both Rooneys.

Agree with all except Williams. He's frustrating as fuck to watch but he gives us something different up front with his pace. I still think he will come good either as a striker or as a winger

In my personal opinion, I'd keep:

Fodders
Troy
Jay Mac
Flint
Devera
McCormack
Thompson
Ward
Ferry
Lee Cox - Would fit in to a K-Mac midfield
Collins
Storey
A. Rooney

Undecided:
Navarro (Only if we play 4-5-1 and he's the anchorman)
L. Rooney

Bin:
Roberts
Miller
De Vita
Benson
Williams

Flint's a tricky one, wins everything in the air but struggles with players running at him.

We need to keep either him or Devera.. not sure on postbadbitches yet.

I'd also agree with Lucian with the exception of Williams. I'd bin Luke Rooney if it meant keeping Benson, harsh on him as he's not had a fair crack.

I'm also not fussed on luongo. Depends if cox is any cop, whether ferry and macca stay, etc.

I'd sort of forgotten that TAH even existed. Then I remember that Godawful period at the start of the season when PDC tried to play him as a midfielder.

I missed loads out...

Cash in on Caddis
Bin Benson
Veto de Vita
Let Lee Cox do a pre-season (might be good, who the fuck knows?!)
Try Troy (when fit)

As for Williams, I've been on his side most of the year, but just lately I can't see it working out here. I have serious reservations over his mental and physical toughness, as well as his finishing. When he was blocked off yesterday and just gave up on it told a story.
