I know its just a sponsor, but somehow having an international company sponsoring us feels so much better than the normal local fare
Down the years we haven't done too badly for shirt sponsors....off the top of my head the 1st was Isis a building firm in Stratton Road I've alluded to elsewhere, then came Lowndes Lambert, an insurance company with offices in the now predictably empty Aspen House...Temple Street. (Surely needs pulling down) LL were instrumental in bringing Macari to the club.
Then came GWR, seemed a local, but used Swindon's growth to develop a minor media empire. Did some good stuff though, bringing the abilty to find out about matches at Stockport, without having to wait until next day, if you didn't go, and giving Vic Morgan a break

They were replaced by Burmah Castrol, in some shape or form. Bit ambivalent about them, a company with a dodgy record i the far east, that had Dennis Thatcher as a Director. They also brought us Rikki...who ran their much smaller forecourt operation. Jed...Rikki, Rikki...Jed.
I liked having Nationwide....local, but also national, a major player, but still retaining some semblance of a moral compass.
Now the daddy...Kingswood, the lettering and logo rapidly falling off the shirt, a metaphor for the club rapidly falling apart.
4-4-2...a credible football sponsor. Could be used again as a reminder to KMac.
Then Samsung...a company bent on global hegemony...it's a modern world.
