I was informed by a friend who works in the Ticket Office one of our Rivals and deals with the away tickets. If memory serves me correct clubs can make upto 4 ticket promotions a season of which 2 can be available for Home Fans Only.
Can understand why there doing this although it is annoying for away supporters
That's an odd rule. What is the reasoning behind it? I'm honestly interested if anyone knows.
I can understand it too, just not happy we're not reaping the benefits too. I'm happy to believe (under duress) that a club can offer a ticket promotion twice a season to home fans only, I'm struggling with the 4 times bit though. Surely a club can set any prices they like at any time?!
I can understand the annoyance; I'm not happy that that we're being charged more than the home fans. Don't know the exact reason; I'll ask, however I can only make a couple of thoughts
Home Teams keep there own Gate receipts for League games any offers will be at their loss.
Home Teams aren't really that interested in Visiting Supporters, they want supporters who will return on a regular basis.
Limitiations on the number of offers could possibly be down to Season Ticket Holders. What's the value of being a Season Ticket Holder if it works out cheaper because a club has numerous offers.
Discounts for away supporters is likely to have less of an impact on attendance than home supporters. Away Supporters tend to travel regardless of price, so whilst if Scunthorpe offered Swindon £5 tickets I doub't the numbers would increase that dramatically.
Scunthorpe want as much backing as possible as they need the points to stay up, they're clearly gambling on people turning up in the hope it works. Then again sometimes it's better to be at the top in a lower Division than struggling in a higher division; fans will come and watch a winning team.
Does anyone know if we offered Carlisle discont tickets as well as our home fans?
Bottom line is Football is a business and it's all about how they can hope to increase revenue
