MacDonald tells players their futures are in their own hands

KEVIN MacDonald has told his out-of-contract Swindon Town players that they can have control of their own futures by putting in top-quality performances between now and the end of the season.

No they're not, they are in the hands of McCrory & his band of merry men. Failing that the administrators.

Frankly if they don't all get offered 3 year extensions it will just be further illustration of the lack of ambition with the board, youth players grumble grumble.

Allowing contracts to run down, to me only means one thing...those players are off.

Presumably if you wanted to keep them, it would be possible to put in a new contract something about playing at a higher level or not, it might even be a motivator to get to that higher level.

I suppose if their agent can't sort something out, then they could be re-signed on a reduced contract, but that seldom seems to happen.

Ferry aside, it's fair enough that it's a case of wait and see what league we are going to be in next season before offering contracts, as most of our out of contract players would be out of their depth if we go up.
