Samsung pay the winner's wages so we gain from the publicity and don't really lose anything in return. He'll most likely never play a game but there is always a small chance of unearthing a good player.

As Fred said, pure PR exercise.

The whole thing a waste of time really, the publicity is so minimal it's probably failed from that perspective as well.  I'd love to be proved wrong and we have unearthed a gem but he will do well to ever get on the pitch.
