But we haven't cheated, have we? We've paid off our outstanding payments to other clubs, negotiated a takeover while clearing the greatest portion of our debts without entering administration, and done everything they've requested of us pretty much honestly and above board, including voluntarily entering into an embargo when we exceeded 65%.
Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised if all the negative press we've had recently, however baseless and rooted in the ignorance of external sources, is having some sort of an effect on this process and the way the FL look upon us.
Hence the speech marks, it's how other clubs see it.

I agree although I'd replace incompetence of our board to naiveness maybe?
yeah, naïveté is probably a fairer way of putting it!

Its policy of not commenting on this situation makes them an easy target for the board to shift blame onto.
Does anyone know what the stated reason is for the FL's policy here? The fact they can't even confirm whether a club is/ isn't under an embargo whatever the details seems absurd. You'd think that information would prove pretty important to other teams who might otherwise end up wasting time agreeing in principle to a loan arrangement with a club they later find out it's impossible to do business with.

Worse still, what of there is no embargo and the board are just trying to get out of making signings (Not that I think that's the case). The FL would then be actively allowing a board to bullshit to their fans. Dodgy boards could effectively use the FL as a shield.

Which was more or less what I said when that cunt Chris Wise proclaimed to all the world we were in trouble and organising a fire sale or go into administration. Some things are best kept quiet to avoid everybody, including the FL, going into a state of blind panic.

I think Andrew Black sending every club in the Football League an email stating that all our players were for sale at half their market value probably let the cat out of the bag there.

Bit of a damp squib this innit?
Had a feeling today would play out exactly like it has, swinging from one emotion to another, twists and turns, will they won't they. Nope, just another boring day of speculation from those that don't matter and silence from those that do. Ah well, we've still got a good squad of players with a few utility players who can move positions if required, only 7 games to go, we can still win this bloody thing!
