Exactly.

I, like many others on here, thought the footballing debts and the ringfenced £1.2m was sorted out weeks ago - and was in fact part of the initial takeover conditions.

Now they are saying they have just done it.

Whether it is lifted today or not, it has left a lot of people questioning either the competency or the integrity of our new board

How do you know the £1.2M wasn't sorted weeks ago?

According to the statement last week the board believed they had then met the criteria to lift the embargo, only for the FA to then say there were still outstanding debts, some from 1957 as well as a possible lawsuit from a certain someone. No mention of a £1.2M outstanding.

It sounds as though the FA keep on moving the goal posts. Hopefully that wont happen to do, it'll be too late if they do.

Exactly - my interpretation is that the £1.2m has been there all along, however I am unsure whether it was officiallly lodged as whoever is funding it (the great unknown question) rightly said 'hang on a sec, I'm not putting all that cash forward if there is a chance that it will just disappear into the pocket of a departing emotional Italian and his loyal band of followers' hence firstly sorting the debts and secondly getting legal counsel I assume regarding the new co's liability for claims etc, its not ideal but makes business sense.

I have said before, but I cannot believe the naevity or blinkered nature of some on here, £1.2m is not just petty cash to anyone (from experience the wealthy are wealthy because they are careful with cash) and to argue that it should just be lodged without checking the provinance of any claims against it would be stupid in the extreme so if anything does this actually prove our board do have some business sense. To complain that matchday prices have gone up and then moan that the board will not just throw £30k or £1.2m around is a little unfair.

There are a plethora of unanswered questions that need address, but to me the honeymoon will continue for a couple of weeks after this is sorted then questions can be asked.

I expect the £1.2m has been reiterated to highlight the fact the new Board have done a good job to secure it*

*assuming this is the case.

I'm not knocking the amount that has been lodged - just the timing of WHEN it was lodged.

How many times have we heard from Jed that the embargo was about to be lifted when it was not.

Not 100% sure on this, but has Jed actually ever said when the embargo would be lifted? Only Murrell gave a timescale IIRC. Jed has said he was hopeful it would be lifted, but I think he never really gave false hope really.

I may be wrong of course.

I think he continually fed us false hope.

How many times have we been told the embargo will be lifted tomorrow - it has become a standing joke on here.

Surely it would have been better to keep schtum until it was actually lifted - which still isn't the case.

I'm sure we all thought the football related debts - Collins and Martin etc - were settled a while ago.

I'm not defending or attacking the board but when they kept Schtum people on here were going mental about the deafening silence. Then when they made a statement, they were ridiculed.

Personally, it seems like they were always going to be in a lose lose situation.

Yep. I think Jed's probably realised that pretty quickly too.

Let's say the miracle happens and the embargo is lifted, the £1.2m is in place, we are debt free and the legal issues are sorted or in hand.

Regardless of the frustrating drawn out affair of it all I think the Board would have done a good job. Of course, there will be plenty more questions to answer and establishing other facts but at least it would be one thing to let go.

Plus we'll have the signing of Jason Roberts to look forward to.

The board never stated last week that the 1.2m had been paid.
