I've probably done more work this week Fred than you've done in a month.
Like I have said before, come back to me when you have an MBA and I will say touché Until then I suggest you hold your water

At least the Croatian fans didn't unfurl their "Vukovar 91" flag this time. I watched the game online with a great sense of foreboding which turned out to be well founded The wall of noise at the Maksimir was immense but that will be as of nothing compared to the cauldron in Belgrade come September, where atonement is assured Here is a fascinating article which drew attention to the respective managers' long-standing mutual antipathy. They grew up 20km apart. Highly reccomended reading. Also shows how friends can become avowed enemies when even the flimsiest of ethnic differences are agitated. http://www.wsc.co.uk/forum-index/27-football/777492-a-history-of-hate-cro-vs-srb-22-mar-2013Bosnia flying. Good luck to them. Will you make it to Brazil if they complete the extraordinary? Too irresistable to miss!

They both sound like a couple of bellends.

Yes, a really interesting post. Don't know if you'd call it reconciliation or just acceptance but it seems some are now moving in that direction. Wouldn't mind being in Belgrade to experience the "atonement" however

That was very interesting , i remember seeing a documentary about the war and the aftermath , where people who fought each other are now living back alongside one another but the hatred and suspicion still survives .

Bosnia will be the best represented team at the tournament, we've waited 20 odd years for the dream to come true. Recent away support includes approx 25k away at France, 15k at Belgium, 20k against Germany. Wouldn't surprise me if there were that number in Brazil! (If we make it). Oh and in 2 of the last 5 away games Bosnia's support has outnumbered the home fans, in Liechtenstein (hardly an achievement) and in Slovenia.

If the Balkan Wars hadn't happened would Yugoslavia be favourites for the World Cup 2014?
COACH: Safet Susic
GK: Begovic (BOS), Stojkovic (SRB)
DEF: Srna (CRO), Subotic (SRB), Spahic (BOS), Nastasic (SRB), Mujzda (BOS)
MF: Modric (CRO), Misimovic (BOS), Pjanic (BOS), Kovacic (CRO), Lulic (BOS), Rakitic (CRO)
FW: Jovetic (MON) Vucinic (MON), Dzeko (BOS), Ibisevic (BOS), Mandzukic (CRO), Petric (CRO)
Plus, maybe they'd have Ibra too. he'd qualify, and it would probably be more appealing than sweden.

Still happens here....many Scots remember Bannockburn, plenty of Irish remember the potato famine.....and the Welsh just fucking hate us for anything.
