Fair enough...I understand...and you're right. Certainly if Paolo had done any of things I outlined earlier then that would've been a line for me and I suspect many others as well.

 Hmmm

People confuse a belief of certain fascist ideolgies with anti-semitism and racism.

Di Canio is no racist, just have a look at his close friends/ people he's in business with.

Easy target.

This is a fucking lazy argument.

Yes PDC has never made any racist statements in public, and we'll ignore the accusations about the some of the things he might or might not have said to black players at Town, because we've no evidence either way.

What we do know is that he chooses to associate himself with people that ARE overtly racist and anti semetic. The ultras he used to race over to and salute at Lazio do carry banners covered in swastikas and and make reference to sending Jews to the ovens. They have just led to the club being prosecuted for their racist chanting for the 4th time in recent years, meaning they're now playing a couple of games behind closed doors.

PDC's never comdemned them. If asked about them he always defends them. On one occassion when he and some other Lazio players met with some holocaust survivors who asked them not to acknowledge fans that repeatedly gave fascist salutes and sang songs about the Italian concentration camps, he still couldn't bring himself to say they wer wrong. His only response was to make a statement about atroticities committed by communist resistance fighters in Italy during the war.

Jay, his "father" disowned him. Why do you think he harboured such ill feeling towards Jewish people? He was hardly the Aryan idyllic person. A product of the all-powerful House of Rothschild. He knowingly/unconsciously destroyed Germany

Hang in there, fellas.  I'm going to try to derail this before it really gets going.

In 1933, the London Daily Mirror published a picture of a gravestone in a Jewish cemetery in Bucharest inscribed with some Hebrew characters and the name Adolf Hitler but it is now known tha this Bucharest Hitler could not have been the Nazi leaders grandfather. At the time, though, this picture sufficiently worried Hitler that he had the Nazi law defining Jewishness written to exclude Jesus Christ and himself.

Makes you wonder?

This discussion was in two different threads, so I've split them from the main threads and merged them here for all your discussion needs...

Lumps, you've mentioned the Jewish roots of the West Ham board a couple of times now. Do you realise that of the 116 original members of the Fasci Italiani di Combattimento, five of them were Jewish? Italian Fascism and anti-semitism are not linked in the same way as Nazism.

You can check the sources on Wiki - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_Fascism

I've made mention of people quoting this fucking wikepedia entry elsewhere. For some reason all of the people that reference it seem to ignore the rest of the pages content.

This makes clear that Il Duce regularly indulged in populist anti-semetic rhetoric throughout his political career, and, while there were always different strands of thought in the party, it swung increasingly towards an anti-semeitic position throughout the 30's until they set up the concentration camps in 1940.

Jewish founder members don't really count for much in comparison to that do they?

Hmmm

Yes Lumps was right in the specific point he made which I quoted there. There is a line for most of us...a theoretical example being what if Swindon had a 'Franchise' solution imposed on it...?
