Whilst this has probably fallen through a crack whilst the takeover was completed, he's right to raise it, new board may not even have known about it, until he said.

If they don't I would be very scared at their due dillegence process.

I am hoping we pay them this in loose change now.

I guess we have to look after the old folk especially at clubs like theirs, they obviously really need that £15k to keep them afloat and not going into admin Cheesy

I don't have a problem with Shrewsbury chasing the outstanding fee.  If it's late, it's late.

What I'm finding very disingenuous, though, are the conclusions being drawn.

  • The idea that we cannot afford a £20,000 stage payment is patently bollocks.  More likely, there was an admin mix up as the takeover was processed and reporting lines & responsibilities were handed over.
  • The idea put forward by Turner in his programme notes that we were buying players we could not afford could be equally applied to every club in the country that has an owner who is funding or part-funding losses...so probably well over half.  We are not in any way an outlier, or a special case.  We just happen to have bought one of their better players and, over 6 months later, Turner is still struggling to come to terms with it.

The attention we're getting from that lot is borderline obsessive.  All a bit odd, really.

I am sure you are totally correct there Ardiles.

The old GiT should not have mentioned it in public unless it was to gain momentum to the shrews hating us thing, which I just dont get why they seem so obsessed by us in a bad way, cos I franky don't give a shit about them.

I am sure it will be paid ASAP by the new owners and a line will be drawn under it.

And this is the bit I'm worried about - there seem to have been an awful lot of admin mixups in the last few months. If it was owed, we should have paid it on time. Turner's quite within his rights to put pressure on via the press.

Apparently genuine issues like this one, added to the semi-fictions that have been circulating, will make other clubs very wary of loaning or selling us players.

No excuses, this is poor.

When was this game that triggered this payment?  I am sure the payment doesnt have to be made straight away.

Not excusing it - just explaining the likely reason.

For what it's worth, I think I've been very critical of the shambles that appears to have developed off the field of play recently.  All in all, it's been a very badly handled and executed hand-over.  Just one of the reasons that the press conference this afternoon is so important.  The new owners need to give assurances that they are now properly in control.
