Exeter Chief Exec: 'And I think it would be strange for him to leave us and go to a club which is £13m in debt.'

Who's going to tell him?

It's astonishing how ignorant people in the football community are of what's going on here.

We all know that football fans would rather accept gossip and rumour mongering than facts.

Does anyone know how much the debt is and to whom it is owed?
Would like to see some facts and figures myself if anyone has them.

I think you ill find that Andrew Black and Nick Watkins have stated exactly what the amounts were in the Adver several times in the past few weeks.

From Andrew Black in his statement from 2 or 3 days ago.

“Anyway as it happened there was interest to buy the club without the need for admin. Given that I sold the club free of all callable debt."

From Andrew Black in his statement from 2 or 3 days ago.

"Callable debt is an umbrella term for any form of loan for which the outstanding interest and principal may be demanded, or called, for payment all at once in advance of the specified maturity date."

not sure if that suggests we have other forms of debt that cannot be "called"

It is an encopassing term that I am sure somebody will be able to have a go at actually explaining (Si?) or it could also mean current running cost debts that are unpaid due to them being current.

Or it could be rates/rent owed at the CG for the current period or rent to SBC. Being that Jed & Co now own 99% of the club and have said to have bought a club "free of debt" (Black and Watkins words).

Maybe I am too optimistic yet again, I shall shut up and not post anything positive because it seems that whenever I do I get shouted down for being too happy clappy or tolerant, I shall revert back to doom and gloom as it appears to now be the STFC way.

there will be no exact figures without accounts I think.

we do know for a fact that most of the club debt was owed to Black and this has now been written off, leaving us with presumably small debts that are paid back at a fixed rate over time?

While it's true that none of us are going to have a handle on the detail, it's fair to say that we can be sure that Andrew Black has taken a huge bite out of the £13 million figure.  His parting gift.

When the history of this period (since 2007) is written, the legacy of the previous owners will probably not be the legacy they would have imagined at the outset.

  • On the field of play, they left us in the same division as where they found us; and
  • Of the field of play, ground redevelopment/relocation simply never happened.

However, they took the Club off life support, gave it back it's self respect and then wiped out the larger part of its debts.  I think I would have settled for all that back in 2007.
