THE SAM MORSHEAD COLUMN: Why Daily Mail scribe got it wrong about Town and their Football League rivals

TODAY, dear friends, a rant. A rant on behalf of the men and women who follow, run and write about clubs in the lower echelons of the Football League pyramid.

Sheffield FC is the oldest football club in the world.

That is an excellent article in fairness. I must admit, when I read the Martin Samuel article I thought it was very good but I was just reading it in terms of the Paolo Di Canio angle. It was very condescending though to lower league football and missed the point that there is life outside the PL and to a large degree this is what football is all about.

Careful  though Sam. Any more reporting of that passion and quality and you might end up at the Mail yourself...

Come on!  Now that PdC has gone, anything to do with a little provincial outpost like Swindon won't even register with the important media scribes who cover the PL.

But another excellent article from Sam which I'm sure would be appreciated by fans of every Football League club.

Di Canio leaving us was such a minor thing that football focus had a little montage of PDC at the end of the show...
